Pope Francis recently released the highly anticipated Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) following the two Synods on the marriage and the family in 2014 and 2015.
First, I encourage us all to read the document in its entirety with a lens of prayer; avoiding skimming like we are studying for a college midterm. We all know cramming for a test keeps the knowledge in our brains just long enough to regurgitate the information back to our professors, and we forget the material shortly afterward. We want this exhortation to stay in our brains! Therefore, read for quality! The Church is alive; moving with her people from generation to generation while she herself staying rooted in Truth. With this, it is important to understand what true guidance we are receiving in a world where media coverage can skew the message of Christ, and become confusing for the members of the Body.
